			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Whether you're an internet marketing rookie or a passionate internet marketing junkie like me, you've probably heard it's crucial to know how to build backlink to get Google, Yahoo! and Bing to feature your webpages.</p>
<p>Backlinks are like votes. And the search engines rely heavily on these votes to determine what position you show up in a web search.</p>
<p>We're all guilty of listening to all of the wrong "gurus" and "experts" and make classic backlinking mistakes&#8230; everything from using automated tools to using link wheels with "footprints" &#8212; even backlinking too much, too fast.</p>
<p>Yes it's true. Getting too many backlinks too quickly actually works against you. Let me prove it to you below&#8230;</p>
<p><em>&#8230; Here's a snapshot of my webstats. Here we see my how-to tutorial on writing a personal biography example gets me a lot of traffic &#8211; 67,232 visitors in just 90 days:</em></p>

<p>This webpage has been on my site for years. And while I currently average more than 700 visitors a day to this webpage, it wasn't always so bountiful&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230; I too listened to the wrong people and made all of the backlinking mistakes one could make. It even got me banned from showing up in Google's search results for years.</p>
<p>So back in the Spring of 2009, I reversed engineered some sites and figured out how to make Google happy and get a steady parade of traffic to my webpages. To my surprise, I found that working too hard and too fast actually worked against me. Instead, I invest just 15 minutes a day on building links.</p>
<p><em>As a result, I'm getting this:</em></p>

<p>The best way to build backlinks is to "prime the pump". Go slow. I avoid automated backlinking tools &#8211; they leave "footprints" and "signals" that you're trying to game the system. Instead, I shoot for less than a dozen backlinks to get my webpage on the first page of Google &#8211; take a look:</p>

<p>When you look at the top, you see I have SEOQuake installed&#8230; and it shows the PR:0 (I have a PageRank of zero&#8230; yes that's a 0) and Y!:8 (yes, just 8 incoming links to my webpage). So once again the "gurus" and "experts" are all wrong &#8211; you don't need to have hundreds or even thousands of backlinks to show up tops in the search results to get 700 visitors to your site each day. In almost every case, my most visited webpages have less than a dozen inbound links.</p>

<p>See how I'm getting hundreds (even thousands) of free organic traffic referrals from Google? If I were to pay just 10 cents a click using Google AdWords' pay per click advertising program, this would set me back thousands and thousands of dollars. Instead, I get this traffic 100% FREE!</p>
<p>Most of the keywords are a result of showing up on the first page in Google. (And I got a bunch from Yahoo! and Bing, too.)</p>
<p>So what's my secret? How in the world am I able to get just 8 backlinks to my site and get 66,182 visits in just the last 90 days?</p>
<p><em>Here it is &#8211; the tactic that made the BIG difference:</em></p>

<p>One of my secrets is to post a "nofollow" link. Yep, while all of the "gurus" and "experts" tell us to avoid "nofollow" backlinks, it was this link above that made all of the difference. I know it because I track this stuff&#8230; and as soon as I posted that link (shown above), my visits more than doubled the very next week. And since then, traffic to this webpage of mine has gone up more than 11 times.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you've been sending <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.comm100.com/emailmarketingnewsletter/" target="_blank">marketing email </a>already but aren't satisfied with your click-through rate, or if you're designing your first html email template and want to make sure that it's optimized for the best possible click-through results, this article covers seven best practices for getting the most click-through response from your email sends.</p>
<p><strong>Why is Click-Through Important?<br />
</strong>You've mastered getting your email into the inbox, and you've found subject lines and an email list that will respond to and open your emails. Congratulations! You've made great progress. What's the next step? It's to get the people who have opened your email to actually click-through your email to your product. After all, the entire purpose of your email is to drive traffic to your website or landing page.</p>
<p>You'd be surprised how a few small changes can really optimize the click-through rate to your website. Here, Comm100 will break down the lucky seven things that you can do to help ensure that your click-through rate is just about as good as it possibly could be.</p>
<p><strong>1. Make Sure that Your Links Look Like Links<br />
</strong>It's very easy to begin to think that your links should look neat and stylized, especially if you have a tightly controlled brand style on your website. However, your links will get clicked the most if they look like links and people can easily identify them as links. At a minimum, every link in your email should be underlined, like a standard link, so that it is easily identifiable to the user visually as a link. Though it may be outside of the scope of your brand guidelines, consider making the links in your email the standard blue link color. What's the reason for this? Some emails will strip out your style scripts anyway. Making your links standard blue will make them obvious links to users in any context.</p>
<p><strong>2. Make Sure There is a Link Above the Fold<br />
</strong>This is the same rule as applies with landing pages. In the case of an email, however, "Above the Fold" actually means within the first inch and a half of the email. Over half of all people who read (or just scan) your email will do so in a horizontally-oriented email preview pane. That means that you have less than two inches of space to convince them to click something. If you fill up the top inch and a half or two inches of your email with an image and text and no obvious links, you may miss your entire opportunity to get a user to click through to your website or landing page. Even if it means less use of image and a harder selling text style, make sure you get at least one obvious link in the top inch and a half of your email. Otherwise, many users will never even see a link to click!</p>
<p><strong>3. Don't Trap Links in Images<br />
</strong><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.comm100.com/forum/" target="_blank">Comm100</a> has talked previously about how using images to convey important messages in email means that many of your readers will never see the message that you want to convey. This rule applies to "click-through buttons" as well. It's true that, in a normal web environment, using a graphic button to tell somebody to "enter" or "click" or "submit: is the most effective way to get a response. This is not true in email. If you use a graphic button, half of your users will only see the button's alt or title text. Alt and title text is not as compelling as a large font, brightly colored text link. Instead of graphic buttons, use either large font text links or create an html button. A good coder can create an html button that is both visually appealing and always visible in your email (whereas a graphic won't be!).</p>
<p><strong>4. TELL People to Click<br />
</strong>Comm100 has already talked about making sure that your links are not too visually subtle, but this is true for the text you choose to use around your links as well. Again, this isn't a webpage and you have limited time to get somebody to click. So, rather than using subtle text strings, make sure you are using call to action and order text such as "Click here to…" or "Click this link." The one thing that you want to be careful of is that you don't do this too much, because spam filters don't like emails that have dozens of large, bolded, "click here" links. But you want at least a couple of links that obviously tell your users where and what to click.</p>
<p><strong>5. Use Alt and Title Text Effectively<br />
</strong>Just in case you've had a brain freeze moment, alt and title text are the text snippets that appear underneath images and that are seen either when the image doesn't load or when a user holds their mouse over the image. You should use both alt and title text fields since different browsers read them differently. The important part of what Comm100 just said that you need to remember is that alt and title tags appear when images don't load! So not only should those text fields repeat any messages in those images, but they should also be used to also say "Click here for this offer" or "Click for more information." Every alt or title text field is an opportunity to encourage a click-through.</p>
<p><strong>6. Use LOTS of Links<br />
</strong>There is also just a piece of simple math that goes into optimizing your click-through rate. It goes like this: The more opportunities that you give users to click, the more likely that they are to click. If a user has to read through several paragraphs of text to get to a link, they may not get that far. Or they may not care by the time they get to the link. Every text block that you include in an email should include one link. And every image should be a link. It's just math! More links means more opportunities for a user to click, which means more click-throughs.</p>
<p><strong>7. Double Check Your Text Version<br />
</strong>Remember that you should always be sending a corresponding text version with your html email. And remember that that text version will wipe out all of your html links. Make sure that you go through your text version and manually put in the url that users need to visit. It should sound like this "Visit this url (insert full url) to see this product." If your url is very long and complicated, you may want to consider setting up a shorter url and then redirecting it to the more complicated url after a user types it in.</p>
<p>Those seven tips will, without fail, improve your click-through rate. Just be sure to check your email in a pre-send spam rater to make sure that you haven't gone overboard with any of these techniques. It's true that in some cases your email won't look as pretty when you're following these rules, but Comm100 can assure you that, from a click-through perspective, it will perform better!</p>

Again, as people can now easily get info online for free, you would need to provide something of high quality to stand out and be worthy of the time and vital info your subscribers have given you. One great way how to build email lists of quality is to avoid giving generic tips that can be easily found somewhere else online and make sure to be straight to the point and concise. This way, not only will you develop a great relationship with your subscribers, but you can also get more readers as your quality services will surely travel by word of mouth.</p>
<p>Although, these are only some of the more basic tips in how to build email list, it can still prove useful especially if done correctly. So, make sure to keep these in mind so you can be better equipped and ready for your email marketing venture.</p>

<p>When we talk about growing a business, this is by far the most common approach: get more customers and clients.</p>
<p>And while this is certainly an important step (you MUST start here if you have no customers or clients yet), it is also the most expensive way to grow a business. And it takes the most effort, too.</p>

Thank those who retweet your recommend in # followfriday. 7. Praise others for their work and their quality content. 8. You can score big points by showing that you have read published content and adding value. 9. When you identify a connection between 2 people who can make sense, put them in touch. Make the go! 10. When retweet others content you're on your way to develop your relationship but do not forget to also help yourself with the quality original content. 11. Occasionally, talk to a person of quality that you follow and which brings much added value with his tweets. Apply yourself to explain specifically why you are recommending this person.Unlike # followfriday is a way to make an unexpected act of kindness that will surprise the person you mention and which will cross the value in your network.</p>

Also create additional columns to track the keywords you want.<br />

36. Don't miss the opportunities to meet your followers IRL (In Real Life).<br />
37. Find Twitter local users using the geographical search of Twitter or with http://www.twellow.com<br />
38. Twellow.com is also a great site to find targeted users  in relation to your interests.<br />
39.Your goal to twitter (or any social media platform) is to create conversations. You can't achieve this if your tweets are simply marketing tweets.<br />
40. Try to find people who share a common focus. Use search.Twitter.com entering your keywords and subscribing to RSS feeds available on research. Follow them, they may follow you back. If you tweet quality content you will have more reciprocity and may even your content will be retweet ,wich will probably bring  you new followers.<br />
41 Find the "influential" in your area of interest on Twitter and follow them. Maybe they will follow you or not but your positive react to their valuable content  will attract their attention.<br />
42. When you find "influential" in your area, take a look at who they follow to find others with same interests. If you establish connections with their network, they will be better able to establish a new connection with you.<br />
43. Synchronize  distribution of your content  using the Facebook  application to extend the area of communication.<br />
44. Think to retweet old items because someone may be interested, if you identify a discussion on.<br />
45. Create a professional background to your twitter profile. You can do it yourself or you can use a service like Twitbacks.com.<br />
46. Tweet often but not to much. More tweets will increase the chances to be followed. Be careful to not  fall into "the tweet after tweet", without providing real added value.<br />
47. Learn to listen on Twitter to see what others want to send you . It's a great deal to capture the trends before anyone else. Lately Twitter has the keywords most often mentioned in the sidebar pages.<br />
48. Do not give up too quickly.Many people do not see the benefit of combining the tools and very often a  see in using Twitter a waste of time. Here's a secret: no one picks up right away the power of the tool but after some practice time Twitter offers a tremendous advantage in your market.<br />
49. Listen and learn. If you tweet more you read and click on content made by others, you probably miss something. Twitter may be the best learning experience and discover content of your life.<br />

52. Follow many. I've been advised to be selective in the people I follow in my own interests. Now I suggest you to  expand your sphere beyond your usual niche and follow people with diverse and varied interests.Why? Because it will enrich your life and you learn things that you would probably never discovered otherwise (serendipity you said?). And you may learn things that you can implement in your own sphere of interest.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Call me unlucky, but I've never had a good experience getting gifts&#8230; so now I've created a corporate gift policy.</p>
<p>Over the last year or so, I've been on the receiving end of quite a few unannounced gifting&#8230; a token of gratitude for offering my <a title="business building tips" href="http://www.marketing-ideas.org">business building tips</a>.</p>
<p>This is awesome. It's really cool to know that people appreciate the hard work. And as the economy continues to plunge, it would seem an unannounced gift is a welcome token of appreciation.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Does your current corporate gift policy actually<br />
hurt your bottom line?</strong></p>
<p>Accepting gifts is almost always tricky&#8230; depending on who is making the gift (and the donor's wishes for the gift).<br />
Sometimes a gift is just a gift with no string attached&#8230; no catches:</p>
<p>One time I got a $100.00 PayPal cash gift for absolutely no reason. This gifter just enjoyed talking to me on the phone. And this guy is well-known (and well respected in the internet marketing industry). It was great! Very cool move. I tell this story often.</p>
<p>But this is by far the exception rather than the rule. Most other times, a gift is nothing more than subtle (and not so subtle) bribe to squeeze a person for free advice or free services.</p>
<p>I finally decided to pull the plug and develop a super simple corporate ethics policy on gifting:</p>
<p>I'm no longer accepting gifts. Just about every time I do, it costs me more than it's worth.</p>
<p>One time I got a small cash gift, but I then found myself spending hours and hours of time setting up an entire website for free. If I figured out my net pay per hour, I could have made more flipping burgers.</p>
<p>Author and publisher <a href="http://www.dobkin.com" title="Jeffrey Dobkin">Jeffrey Dobkin</a> ("How To Market a Product for Under $500") has a similar position on free lunches:</p>
<p>"A person calls and says he wants to take me for lunch. I reluctantly agree and we wind up going across the street for a brief lunch &#8211; that takes an hour and a half &#8211; while he hammers me for marketing information. He then orders a coffee &#8211; good for another 45 minutes. Finally, the bill arrives, it's twenty bucks and I ask if I can leave the tip and he agrees. I leave a nice tip as we took so much of the waiters time and they can't turn the table again till dinner. Then when we're leaving he thanks me briefly for the information, but feels like I owe him since he bought me lunch. No thanks. I don't do that any more."</p>
<p>One listener to my broadcast insisted on meeting me and paying for lunch. I bit. And it was a nightmare&#8230; the entire lunch was a blatant attempt to sell me an MLM opportunity. It was REALLY, REALLY awkward.</p>
<p>Sometimes a gift was never meant to be&#8230; a listener of mine heard me rave about Sather's famous cinnamon buns in Chicago. She actually took my hint and tried to send me some &#8212; shipped by Priority Mail, too. There were no strings attached and had all the best intentions in the world. But the buns never arrived at my house&#8230; instead they were mistakenly shipped to my PO Box. Yikes! That mistake cost my listener at least $20.00, and all I got were hard-as-rocks buns.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, I find the cons far outweigh the pros. It's for this reason I've put into immediate effect a new, no-gift policy.</p>
