Internet advertising – How to profit with Facebook ads

June 28th, 2010 by Guest Blogger | No Comments | Filed in Internet Marketing Success, Social Media, Uncategorized

I stumbled upon a nifty post by Justin Goff describing a start-to-finish example of a profitable Facebook internet advertising campaign.

This campaign took him a week or so to become profitable, but he's now got it tweaked and you could actually just copy this and start making money as an affiliate.

Here’s the nuts and bolts of it…

The ProductThe 31 Day Fat Loss Cure (this is his own product on Clickbank, affiliate info is here if you’re interested)

Landing Page: Justin linked directly to his sales video which is at 31DayFatLossCure.com/abs (if you’ve never seen a video like this, the add to cart button pops up at the end of the video so they can order…its pretty cool).

Next, he started making making some Facebook ads…

Facebook ads

When he does this, he usually makes up to 30 different ads (mostly testing the pictures in the ads).

Justin found that a great picture gives you the biggest change in click thru rates (CTR). So out of the 30 or so ads he tested, these were the top 3 converting ads.

Just by improving your CTR you can get a much better Cost Per Click (CPC) and your profits are going to go through the roof. If you have a few extra bucks to spend, Justin highly recommendd picking up the FB Ads Manager. This thing literally saves him 20-25 hours each week. Justin simply uploads all of the ads, targets the market he wants and let's it run while he's sleeping.

And by the way here’s a big tip that he got from Jeremy Schoemaker (aka Shoemoney):

Set up your campaign so that in Clickbank each ad has a different sub ID on the end (much easier to do than it sounds). This way you can track the EXACT ads that are sending you the sales.

Facebook ClickBank

Of the ads pictured at the top of this post, Justin actually found that the middle ad generated the most sales (even though it didn't have the best CTR).

Once you have some ads ready, you MUST narrow down and calculate your target market…

Narrowing Your Market For Maximum Money Making

If you’ve ever done any campaigns for fitness/fat loss products, you know that the best market for these products is in the 35-65 year old age group.

Justin targeted each of these ads specifically to women in the 35-55 year old range on Facebook. He didn’t target any specific keywords with these ads, just women in general. Here are the exact settings Justin used:

  • Female, 35-55
  • United States
  • CPC (bidding around .30 per click)

That’s a pretty broad market, but it was still profitable. Since then he's gotten more into niching down by smaller groups of years and also by time zones in the U.S.

Justin thinks there’s also a lot of money to be made targeting keywords. For example, you could target people who like “The Biggest Loser” which is over 1 million people on Facebook — he hasn’t tried this yet, but he's confident it would convert pretty well.

The Profits

Overall on this campaign, Justin invested a total of $493.76 and brought in $621.19 in revenue. So the overall profit for the campaign was $127.43. Now you might not think that’s much money, but here’s how he's going to scale it out…

… During this test campaign, Justin was capping his ad spend each day to $50. Now since this campaign is profitable, all he needs to do is increase his ad spend to $300 or so dollars per day, and within a few days this will easily turn into a $100 profit each and everyday. That’s an average of $36,500+ per year.

Not to mention, Justin hasn’t even started targeting this campaign to men.

Now a question most people usually have is “what’s better, CPC or CPM?”

CPC vs. CPM

This campaign was all run on CPC, but he's been playing around with CPM lately.

Here’s the deal though…

… Facebook recently changed its algorithm, and they are trying to push direct response marketers over to CPC. In simple speak, the days of dirt cheap CPM clicks are pretty much over.

But that’s ok, because even a campaign like this you could still easily make $20k-$30k a year as an affiliate just by direct linking.

On a campaign like this your goal should be to get as many people to the landing page as possible – for as cheap as possible. If you can find cheap .10 cent clicks this Facebook campaign would be an absolute gold mine.

Now that leads to the next big tip, which is improving your click through rate!

How To Increase Your CTR on Facebook Ads

One of the keys to making a bunch of money on Facebook is to keep your CTR high.

Now the big problem with this (unlike with Adwords) is that the same people are seeing your ad everyday they login to Facebook. So after about 7-10 days your ad is going to lose its good CTR, and you’re going to need a new ad.

If you have a picture that’s converting well, you can do something simple like adding a colored border or circle around the image.

If that doesn’t work it’s time to test 20-30 new pictures, and then you can simply bring your old one back in a few weeks.

SEO Link Juice – How to ask for a link from your competition

May 4th, 2010 by markus | No Comments | Filed in Business, Email Marketing, Internet Marketing Success

One of the fastest ways to get your blog or website noticed is to seek inbound links — also known as SEO link juice.

When you get a dozen or so trusted and authority websites linking to your site, you're going to see your search engine rankings rise quickly.

Having more people link to you is good, however your efforts won't pay off nearly as much until you attract your first 12 or so backlinks.

And get this, you might be surprised to find out it doesn't matter how accurate the link anchor text is… what really counts is getting other websites that are trusted to pass a direct, one-way link to you.

I'm just one of literally billions of website owners willing to send you my link juice to your site. Yet surprisingly, very few people have asked me for a backlink. Yes, all you have to do is ask and odds are good that I'm going to send my SEO link juice your way.

As a person that both receives and seeks link requests, I'm in the unique position to know what both sides want from each other… and I've created a sort of "link juice cheatsheet" to help you get a large percentage of requests looked at… and most acted upon. Here's what I personally look for in a link juice request:

High value
Do you have a cool website? How about a Top 10 list? Do you have a nifty lookup tool? Have you published a unique 600-word article? If so, just contact me and odds are good I'm going to link to your site in less than a week.

Skip the ads
Whether it's fair or not, most bloggers and site owners don't like linking to webpages with ads. This is especially true for "noncommercial" social media sites (like Digg and Reddit) and authority .edu and .gov sites. That's why you might skip the ads during your link juice campaign, and then once you have a dozen backlinks, quietly add sponsored ads and links to monetize your site. (By the way, ads don't bother me one bit when I link to your site).

Consider cash incentives
Roughly half of those who link to my webpages do so without compensation. But the rest are automatically approved into my private affiliate program. That means each webpage they link to ultimately pays them a commission over the long term. Can you tie in an affiliate program offering to your free content?

Fresh is good
Given a choice between an ebook that's been available for 10 years (and everyone knows about) or one that's just released, most are going to be more excited to promote the new stuff.

If you've got a title or a lookup tool that's well-known to the marketplace, don't fret. Just change it up a bit — perhaps make it niche specific or offer an update for a quick makeover.

And if you're able to time your ebook or tool to a current event or breaking news, you're going to have an easy time getting site owners to link to your site.

Send a short email
The best way to contact me or any backlink source is by email. My online support system automatically sends your message to my personal email address (which I check every morning — even weekends and holidays).

Most email fail to get my attention because they obviously didn't invest a single nanosecond getting familiar with my blog or website. Whatever you do, invest a few moments to see what a site is all about… it's almost always VERY worth the 10-minute investment of your time.

To begin, start off your email with rapport. Next transition with how you offer a unique, free resource. End it with a call to action…  the next step – that is what you're looking for the receiver of your link juice request to do next. This is a very simple formula that gets great results.

Here's an example of an email I just sent to a university… they have a resource directory about internet marketing, and I desperately want a backlink from this trusted directory (with a Page Rank of 7):

Subject: re: your internet marketing directory

Message:

Hi Betsy,

I just found your internet marketing directory
and was quite impressed.

I found myself taking lots of notes –
that AdSensePro Jen blog was amazing.
I tried her suggestions, and I'm already
seeing more money from AdSense.

And Kampyle.com was just awesome.
I never knew how valuable feedback was
until I tested it.

By far my favorite source you mentioned was
your link to the "Search Engine Ranking Factors" -
I'm glad to see these experts agree
about the importance of the webpage title.

Speaking of great sources,

from your resource directory?

If so, the linking code as at the bottom of the webpage.

Internet Marketing Video – Make money with these video tips

April 30th, 2010 by Guest Blogger | No Comments | Filed in Business, Internet Marketing Success

Video products are easier to make than most internet marketers would believe.

Hundreds of people stop themselves from making video products because they believe that they aren't technically gifted enough. What they are really doing is leaving money on the table because you can charge a lot more for video products than you can for text products.

It doesn't take much to change a text product into a video product if you know the right steps. Read on for tips to making more profit with your products by using video.

Plan your video format based on your strengths. If you feel more comfortable with speaking in front a camera, by all means do it. But you don't have to sit in front of the camera to make a successful video. Some of the best videos are screenshot video that displays exactly what is going on with your screen.

If you are a better at narrating rather than speaking in front of the camera, you can use the a screenshot program rather than a regular video camera.

Write down the structure before you start shooting. Even if you know the topic well, you need to write down a structure for your video before you begin shooting. Keep in mind that a page of written text is about two minutes of spoken text. Before you start shooting your script, time your script so you know how long you'll need to shoot it.

Keep your at ten to fifteen minutes tops. People don't like to sit around and watch their computer screens forever. You need to keep your videos on the short side. When you time your videos you need to make sure that they fit within this time frame in order to keep your viewers interested.

Make a video series if you want to increase the power of your product. If you have content that is going to last longer than ten to fifteen minutes you should make a video series to sell to your target market. If your content is going to be really in depth, you can even split it into two sets of videos and offer the second as an upsell.

Speak to one person at a time. Even though your video will be seen by many people they will only view it one at a time, so when you're speaking make sure that you speak directly to one person. Using "you" and "yours" will help you connect with the audience more.

Don't worry about being perfect. As you're shooting the video, don't worry about being perfect when you narrate the video. Your customers want to know that a normal person just like themselves is making the video. If you're too formal you won't be approachable.

Provide a transcribed script. If you want to give your audience additional value, you can send your video to a service like Elance.com and have one of the workers there turn your video into a text document.

Forum Marketing – How to get new business posting in forums

April 17th, 2010 by Guest Blogger | No Comments | Filed in Business, Internet Marketing Success

Forums have been part of the internet community for a very long time. It is an easy way for someone to communicate with other people all over the world about shared interests, questions, as well as answers. Online forum marketing is one of the best ways for a small business to promote their product or service as well as socializing with possible buyers of your product.

In today fast paced internet world you can find forums on just about any subject that may be of interest to you. All you have to do is go to your favorite search engine and type in your favorite topic and add forums and you will be greeted with millions of results.  The possibilities are almost endless on the forums that you have the ability to choose from. Once you get the results all you have to do is search through the links and find the forum that you feel may contribute to you or one that may be able to contribute to the forum. If you are trying to promote your business however, you need to click on most of the forums and register.

Once you have registered in a few of the more popular forums you will need to edit your profile. The profile is very important as it will be the one thing that will promote your product online. You may consider on creating a short bio that tells visitors about you and the business you are promoting. Make sure that you include your keywords to both the text and hyperlink to your blog. This will help you show up on the search engines.
Now that you have finished your profile you are now ready to create a signature file. The signature file can help you increase traffic to your website as well as increasing the backlink. This file will appear each time you post in a forum.

Now that you have both of the most important steps done, you are now ready to use the forum to market your business or product.  There are a few tips that you should follow though in order for the forums to work for you.

1. Use the online forums to be able to learn as much as you can about your business. Almost all the forums that are available are free to use so this is a great way to do research. Also some forums allow you to read the posts without even joining which is great as it allows you access to valuable information without having to join. You need to be sure to take the time in reading these forums and asking any questions that you may have.  Learning is one of the most important steps to any internet business as things are constantly changing.

2. Be sure to use the forums to ask questions. Almost everyone in the forum community is willing to help others and answer questions as they can. If you never ask your question, you will never get the answers that you seek. The key though is to be sure that you ask the right questions as you do not want to spam the forum boards. Spamming the forum boards to get people to click on your signature link will only get your post deleted and possibly get you banned from the forum as well.

3. Once you feel you are ready you can begin to answer questions for other members of the forum as well as help them with their problems just as they did for you. This will help you to get your backlink to grow as your trust grows. This will also help you become known as an expert on subject.

4. Try not to post any links in your initial post this is what you will use your signature file for
Forum marketing is a great way to socialize and meet new potential customers of your product. If they are used correctly, you can have a very successful internet business.

Business Online Promotion – Boost visits to your online site

April 12th, 2010 by Guest Blogger | No Comments | Filed in Business, Internet Marketing Success

Most websites today have a standard search engine which makes it easier to
browse for items within the online store or blog that they are visiting. It
does make it much easier than in the older days of just having to search
manually however it can be a bit boring. How about adding some exciting and
interactive stuff on your home page and sell your products at the same time?
It would most definitely make your website much more memorable than the rest,
right?

Interactive Fun

Most people online these days are pretty familiar with all the interactive
features like multiple choice boxes, clicking with a mouse and radio buttons,
correct? Well then why not entertain your customers by getting them involved
with fun games and activities when they get to your website? One example could
be a fun survey that will give a discount if they participate or maybe a funny
video that relates to one of your products. Videos are such a huge hit these
days. People are really engaged while watching a video, it builds trust and
let's face, it these days online we have to build a lot of trust to get someone
to pull out their credit card and buy something.

Quizzes

As you know a lot of people have a competitive streak in them. So why not
develop quizzes for people to be able to test their level of expertise in a
topic and be able to compare it to others who have completed the quiz as well.
You could also take this information and build your own infoproduct to sell in
addition to your products or use the information to help improve many different
aspects of your business.

Polls

Polls are extremely popular on both regular websites and social networking
websites. They are extremely easy to use and people always love answering
questions especially if they can see how their opinion compares to others
who also gave their opinion. This technique can also be a fantastic way to
create a better community and to jazz up or create a great discussion.

Virtual Tools

Another great thing to add is a virtual tool that will allow your customers to
visualize how purchasing a particular product of yours will impact their lives,
if you can accomplish this than your sales will sky rocket. One example of this
would be if you sell wigs, then you would want to create a tool that allows
someone to upload an image of their face and then be able to click a button on
different wigs to see how that wig would look on them. This does take some work
but if you can't develop the tool yourself, you can always outsource it at
elance.com or freelance.com.

Chat

This feature is great for not only a membership site but also a regular
ecommerce site. People now days love to interact with others and know that
there is a real live person attached to a website. Like videos, this also
builds trust. It makes it very easy for customers to ask questions or if they
have problems it enables you to address them really quickly so someone doesn't
run right out to the nearest forum and bad mouth you or your site. It provides
great customer service. Anything that allows more real-time interaction with
other people is a great plus, and it doesn't necessarily have to be contact with
you directly. It can be contact with other members, contact with online sales
representatives, or technical troubleshooters. As long as they are engaging your
website in ways that engage them completely, you will have more and more of
their attention. Ignore them or keep the same stale site, and you will be very
hard-pressed to generate interest on solely the strength of your products alone.

Increase Website Sales – Tips to attract more online buyers

April 5th, 2010 by Guest Blogger | No Comments | Filed in Business, Internet Marketing Success

Are your website sales not what you would like them to be? Marketing on the internet can be very exciting especially the first day your website goes live on the internet. Expectations are high since you know you have built a terrific site but lo and behold it has been a week and little has happened. This has now left you scratching your head trying to figure out how to increase sales at your website. In order to boost your sales you will want to examine certain key aspects of the website itself that could be causing your problems. With the proper adjustments you can be on your way to internet riches in no time flat.

Here are 5 ways to get an increase in sales at your under performing website.

Opps You Forgot to Generate Traffic

It would be nice if all we had to do was build a website, go live on the internet with it and wait for people to come visit. Unfortunately this is not going to happen therefore effort must be put into generating traffic. When marketing on the internet the only way to get an increase in sales is to first generate traffic and then improve your sales conversion rate.

The Wrong Traffic

Be sure that the traffic you are generating is appropriate for what you are promoting. You can have thousands of visitors daily but if they have no interest in what you offer you are wasting your time and theirs. Any ads or promotions you run advertising your website should clearly describe or indicate what type product or benefits you are offering. This allows visitors to 'qualify' themselves as to whether they have an interest.

Messy and Unfocused Site Design

Look at your website design and be sure that it is appropriate for what it is you are marketing. Another thing you want to check is to be sure you do not have a lot of 'clutter' on your site such as ads, video or other type graphics. This can be both distracting and annoying to visitors disrupting their focus from your sales message.

Weak Sales Copy

Copy writing is a very important component of your marketing efforts. The sales copy you place on your site should attract and compel people to take the desired action you want them to take which is to make a purchase. When trying to figure out how to increase sales at your website your copy writing is a good starting point.

Read your copy and see if it intrigues or compels you to take action. If you are not tempted you can not expect to influence any website visitor to take the required action?  If you are uncomfortable with the results of your own efforts you may want to consider hiring a professional to rite the copy for you.

Not Capturing Names

How can capturing names at your website help you to get an increase in sales? The answer is easy one being it is actually highly unusual for someone to land on your site for the first time and make a purchase. Studies sow that typically it can take up to 7 or 8 exposures before a visitor decides to make a purchase. When capturing their contact information you are able to maintain the necessary contact with them thereby increasing their exposure to your offer.

When website sales are weak it leaves you feeling frustrated and zaps your confidence. Under performing websites are a common source of frustration when marketing on the internet but it is something that can be fixed if you know where to look. When examining how to increase sales at your website there are 5 probable areas you will likely need to focus upon. As we reviewed above the various aspects of your website that could be creating sales problems for you vary from site design to sloppy copy writing. By devoting your attention to these areas you stand the best chance of quickly gaining an increase in sales at your 'reluctant' website. The best part of all is your experience with this problem makes it unlikely you will be 'guilty' of the same oversights in the future.
